Tullamore Dew - the goldilocks whiskey

Recently while wandering aimlessly through the endless isles of BevMo, I found myself standing in front of the Irish Whiskey section (shocking, I know). Many on the shelf I had already tried, but one caught my eye - Tullamore Dew. In the past I had overlooked it simply because it has a pretty low price, but how often do I get to try something new? And for only $21 it seemed to be worth the risk. I decided to give it a try.

What I had discovered is now one of my favorite whiskeys, not too harsh, not too sweet, not too expensive, a true goldilocks whiskey. TD is a blended whiskey, not a single malt, and gives the nice smooth taste without the after-burn of some scotch out there. This would also be a good suggestion for girl drinkers too (the wife loves it, when she's not pregnant that is). The mad scientists took Pot Still Wiskey for flavor, Irish Grain Whiskey to round out the hard aftertaste, and Irish Malt Whiskey to give it some kick (triple distilled, yeah-baby.)

The final result is a warm, smooth taste with a light body and only small hints of oak that feels like an old friend, come to tell you a story. Try it neat, or with a nice substantial icecube - you wont be disappointed.

Recommended: Highly
Notes: Smooth, warm maltiness with slight wood taste. yummmm.
Price: $21 for 750ml

I haven't tried the no age statement version of Tullamore Dew, but the 12 year old is an excellent Irish - and a very good value. Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try next well stocked bar I hit.
