Best Whiskey for Fathers Day

Fathers day is right around the corner. So, like many of you I find myself looking for something nice to get Dad. Naturally, I lean toward a bottle. Now, what kind of whiskey should I buy?

I guess it all comes down to the taste of your father, but lets face it, he's not going to be allowed to drink it by himself right? He might have grown up drinking Jack Danials, Johnny Walker, or Crown Royale. A bottle like that will not break the bank at say $25. So that might be a safe bet, and they are easy to get at your local grocery store. But what if you want to take it up a notch?

Second tier products can get you into a nice 12 or 15 year scotch from Highland Park, Glenlivet, or Macallen. Irish whiskey's in this category include Bushmills and Jameson. Bringing home a bottle like this will definitely keep ol' dad on your good side, and still under $50.

Or, are you looking to impress the old man with your knowledge and experience. Maybe remind him of that promotion you got last year? Might be time to go for a Middleton, Laphroaig, Redbreast or maybe even a 21yr old single malt (you big spender).

What are you going to get Dad? Or for those fathers out there, what would YOU like? Comment below and let us know!

I hadn't made a suggestion, but my wife and daughter gave me a bottle of Nikka Taketsuru 12 Year Old Pure Malt. They new it was on my extensive list of whiskies that I'd like to buy, and this year marked the 10th anniversary of our return to Canada from Japan
